Abstract
Reactions of 3,5-diphenylcyclohex-2-en-1-one (1) with several chemical reagents have led to a variety of novel biologically active hydrazones, arylidene derivatives and heterocycles. The newly synthesized compounds have been tested as antioxidants and in vitro inhibitors of Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus, Gram-negative Escherichia coli, and fungus Candida albicans. The most active products have been evaluated for their cytotoxicity and MIC values. The results indicate that the majority of compounds exhibit significant potency.
