Abstract

New manganese(II) and iron(III) complexes with hydrazones derived from malonic acid dihydrazide and 3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylaldehyde have been synthesized. The structure of the complexes has been studied by IR and electronic spectroscopy and X-ray analysis. Malonic acid bis[(2-hydroxy-3,5-di-tert-butylbenzylidene)-hydrazide] has been shown to form dinuclear complexes with manganese and iron ions, in which ferromagnetic interaction between the metal ions is observed.
