Structure, optical, and electrochemical properties of cyclometalated iridium complexes with 2-phenylbenzothiazol, N-(benzothiazole)-N-idoacetamidinate, and N-(thiazole)-N-idoacetamidinate ions

Abstract

Nucleophilic addition of benzothiazole-2-amine and thiazole-2-amine to acetonitrile bound to iridium in a cyclometalated complex have been discovered. Cis-structure of the iridium complexes with bis{(2-phenyl-3-ido)benzothiazole)[N-(benzothiazole)-N-idoacetamidinate]} and bis{2-phenyl-3-ido)benzothiazole)-[N-(thiazole)-N-idoacetamidinate]} both in crystal and in solution have been proved by X-ray diffraction analysis as well as 1Н, 13С, 15N NMR, and IR spectroscopy.
