Environmental performance assessment for pulp and paper enterprises: promising waste utilization options

Abstract

A comprehensive characterization study was carried out for liquid, gaseous, and solid wastes generated by two pulp and paper mills in Northwest Russia. An environmental impact assessment method based on the technical standards set for discharges (emissions) of priority pollutants was tested for individual process units and the entire enterprise.
