Abstract

Transfer of acyl groups from N-acyloxypyridinium salts to pyridine N-oxides in acetonitrile was studied. The equilibrium constants of acyl exchange were determined. These quantities vary in the range covering eight orders of magnitude, depending on the structure of the reagents, and are independent of the structure of the acyl group.
