Abstract

The paper presents the solution to an axially symmetric problem of the electromagnetic field excited by an electric dipole and a current in a half-infinite cable in a cylindrically layered polarizable medium. The polarization of the medium is described by the Cole-Cole formula, including such parameters as the conductance, polarizability, response time, and attenuation coefficient. The spatiotemporal structures of the field in polarizable and nonpolarizable homogeneous media are compared. The apparent Cole-Cole parameters are defined and determined for a model problem of a cylindrically layered medium.
