Abstract

The morphological features of the soils and the degree of their mechanical disturbance within the oil-and-gas prospecting area in western Kamchatka were studied. A scale based on the status of the topsoil horizons was suggested for assessing the mechanical disturbance of the soils. It was found that the minimum mechanical disturbance is typical of the automorphic light ocherous volcanic soils, whereas the maximum disturbance is typical of the hydromorphic peat bog soils.
