Abstract

Systems of the vertical soil zonality in mountains of Russia have been analyzed on the basis of the Soil Map of the Russian Federation on a 1: 2.5 M scale. Types of the vertical soil zonality are classified into classes, subclasses, and groups. Overall, 4 classes, 8 subclasses, and 27 types of the vertical zonality are distinguished. The soil-geographic zoning of mountain systems of Russia is developed, and provinces and districts of mountainous soils are separated with respect to the character of the vertical soil zonality. The geographic regularities of their distribution are discussed.
