Methods to Increase the Accuracy of Calculation of the Phase Difference of Signals of an Interferometric Side-Scan Sonar

Abstract

Methods for processing of acoustic signals of interferometric side-scan sonars (ISSSs) reflected from a rough surface are proposed to improve the accuracy of calculation of their phase difference. It is shown that the methods make it possible to suppress the distorting decorrelation noise for long-base interferometric systems and to increase the signal-to-noise ratio in the estimation of the phase difference of channel signals. The simulation results for algorithms of the ISSS signal processing are presented for the proposed methods.
