Abstract

A composite material based on identically oriented ellipsoidal inclusions distributed in a bonding medium is considered. The concept of the field acting in the composite and the effective dielectric constant is introduced. A formula for the effective dielectric constant of the composite is obtained, which in particular cases transforms into the well-known formulas of Lorentz and Lorentz, Maxwell Garnett, and Bruggeman. Comparison of the results of calculations with the experiment shows the applicability of the effective dielectric constant as an adjustable parameter.
