Abstract
Using the method of extended boundary conditions, the 2D problem of diffraction of a symmetric mode of a planar metamaterial waveguide by a cylindrical screen located near the waveguiding layer is solved. The method is illustrated using the example of diffraction by a screen in the form of a strip and by a parabolic screen. Angular dependences of the scattering pattern and the dependences of the mode reflection and transmission coefficients on the layer’s normalized width are obtained.
