Abstract

It is shown that the dependences of the depolarization of radio waves in rains along satellite-satellite radio-occultation paths on the height of the beam line in the troposphere can be used for the identification of rains. It is noted that a reliable identification of rains in such paths requires simultaneous measurements of the attenuation and depolarization of radio waves.
