Abstract
Contouring of a rectangular image by the Bragg acoustooptical diffraction into two symmetric orders is studied. It is proven theoretically and experimentally that, unlike the ordinary diffraction into one Bragg order, the diffraction into two orders is provides for significantly more efficient contouring: the image contour becomes approximately half as wide.
