Abstract
For the TM polarization, the 2D problem of excitation of a dielectric plate by a point source is considered in the quasi-static approximation. Analytic expressions suitable for the analysis of the fields formed by the plate whose permittivity is close to minus unity are obtained. Results of numerical computations illustrating the focusing properties of the plate are presented.
