Abstract
Electromagnetic wave propagation through a layer with finite conductivity is analyzed. The phase-plane method is demonstrated to be applicable to the analysis of propagation. The high efficiency of the method, which makes it possible to visually reveal the features of transition from a dielectric layer to a metallic one, is demonstrated in the case of a layer whose conductivity depends on its thickness.
