A method for adaptation of the aperture dimensions in nonlinear image filtering problems

Abstract

An adaptive method is proposed for adjustment of the optimum size of the planar aperture of nonlinear filters used for processing of images distorted by a pulsed noise. A median filtering algorithm implementing the proposed method is analyzed. The results of numerical investigation of the proposed algorithm and an existing image processing algorithm are presented.
