Abstract
The problem of estimating recognition quality is considered in the case when a researcher has a single learning sample with a limited size and unknown laws of distribution of objects in the attribute space. For this case, a recognition characteristic and a scalar quality index are proposed. The analysis of the proposed characteristic and the quality index is performed. A method for forming the estimates of the above characteristics from a single learning sample with a limited size and an unknown distribution law is presented.
