A Tunable Ka-Band Multifrequency Radiation Source Based on a Pulsed Gyro-Backward Wave Oscillator

Abstract

Multifrequency oscillation regimes in a Ka-band pulsed gyro-backward wave oscillator based on a helically corrugated waveguide have been obtained. The pulsed radiation power is 30–35 kW at a pulse length of about 120 μs and a pulse repetition rate of up to 10 Hz. By changing the magnetostatic field in the interaction region and the pitch factor of particles, the oscillation center frequency has been tuned within 32‒35.5 GHz and the distance between the main spectral lines has been varied between 360‒550 MHz.
