Abstract

Electron-stimulated desorption (ESD) of lithium (Li) atoms from the surface of the Li/LixAuy/Au/W system has been studied for the first time. The formation of a two-dimensional (2D) LixAuy semiconductor layer has been discovered, and it is established that the ESD process takes place at the Li monolayer–2D LixAuy layer interface.
