Abstract
The influence of the thickness and porosity of a passive porous coating on the development of natural disturbances in a hypersonic boundary layer has been studied for the sharp cone model at a Mach number of M ∞ = 6, zero angle of attack, and Reynolds numbers Re1∞. It is established that there exists an optimum thickness of the passive porous coating that corresponds to the maximum stabilization of second-mode disturbances.
