Controlling optical response of Opal/Ge2Sb2Te5 hybrid film structures

Abstract

Hybrid film structures of the photonic crystal (opal)/glassy chalcogenide semiconductor (Ge2Sb2Te5) type, which exhibit strong variations in the intensity of reflected light due to the resonant excitation of anomalous diffraction (Wood anomaly), have been synthesized. A method of controlling the resonant optical response of the obtained structures is proposed that is based on a thermoinduced phase transition from the amorphous to crystalline state in the Ge2Sb2Te5 film.
