Abstract
The deflection of protons and π− mesons in bent axial and planar channels of a silicon crystal has been simulated by numerically solving the kinetic Fokker-Planck equation in the space of transversal energies using the propagator method. It is found that 150-GeV π− mesons exhibit dechanneling from planar channels at depths on the order of several dozen microns and form an angular distribution with two maxima, the symmetry of which is broken when the crystal is bent.
