Abstract
Mechanical stresses in the winding of a solenoid occurring in an external magnetic field can be significantly reduced as compared to the magnetic field pressure at the axis, provided that the condition of equilibrium is satisfied. The arrangement of an equilibrated solenoid inside a magnetic system intended to generate strong magnetic fields does not lead to the development of large stresses, while making possible an increase in the threshold induction.
