Adsorption of potassium on graphite: Work function calculations

  • Published:
Technical Physics Letters Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

Changes in the charge of adatoms and the substrate work function have been calculated using the Anderson-Newns model for the potassium/graphite system. The results of calculations are in good agreement with the available experimental data. It is established that there is electron transfer from K adatoms to the graphite substrate, which leads to a decrease in the work function.
