Abstract
The energy spectra of fast ions produced in the course of electrodynamic acceleration of deuterium plasma in an inverse Z-pinch geometry have been measured. It is established that the radial acceleration and subsequent free expansion of plasma lead to the formation of a flux of ions with a rather broad energy spectrum. In addition to the main group of ions with energies within 2–10 keV, the flux contains fast ions with energies of up to 200 keV and above.
