Abstract

The problem of reducing electric losses in a magnetic suspension is considered. Specifically, the feasibility of decreasing electric losses in dynamics in addition to the well-known method of loss reduction in statics by means of permanent magnets is discussed. It is demonstrated by an example of a simple magnetic suspension with permanent magnets that, when the suspension is brought to equilibrium, the functional in the dependence of the electromagnet coil current squared reaches a minimum; i.e., electrical losses are minimized in dynamics.
