Abstract

Numerical modeling of the high-speed collision of a solid particle with a metal-insulator-metal (MIM) structure is carried out. The processes of ionization and diffusion of atoms and ions into the insulator during the collision are analyzed. A model describing steady glow of the MIM structure after its collision with fast particles is proposed.
