Higher-order elastic moduli of the metallic glass Pd40Cu30Ni10P20

Abstract

The effect of uniaxial loading on the parameters of ultrasonic wave propagation in the bulk metallic glass Pd40Cu30Ni10P20 has been studied. The third-order and fourth-order elastic moduli have been calculated based on the obtained results. It has been shown that the nonlinearity of the elastic properties of this glass are substantially higher than that of the previously studied Zr-based glass.
