Abstract

The acoustical properties (Young’s modulus, logarithmic decrement) of V-Ti-Cr alloys prepared using different technologies (in Russia, Japan, and the United States) are investigated in the temperature range from ∼100 to 300 K. It is revealed that, for all the alloys under investigation, the temperature dependences of the logarithmic decrement for the specimens subjected to plastic bending exhibit a characteristic sharp kink at temperatures of 180–230 K. The temperature at which there appears this specific feature in the acoustic experiment is close to the brittle-ductile transition temperature determined from impact tests.
