Abstract

The pressure dependence of the isomer shift in the CaSnO3 compound under a pressure of up to 36 GPa is measured using resonant absorption of gamma radiation by 119Sn nuclei (the Mössbauer effect). The pressure is found to reduce the valence electron density at 119Sn nuclei. The effect of pressure on the structure and chemical bonding in CaSnO3 is discussed.
