Abstract
Possibilities of determining the position of the ionization front and controlling the inflow rates (fluxes) of impurities, along with divertor plate heating and erosion, are analyzed. The challenging problem consists in investigation of divertor regimes of operation and efficiency of pumping out impurities. Arrangement of diagnostics in a draft scheme of the system, composition of equipment, and experimental techniques, including formulation of problems, requirements to measurements, and estimates of signal levels, are discussed.
