Abstract
The neutron inelastic scattering data for the spectra of f-electron excitations in valence-unstable semiconductors SmB6, SmS, and YbB12 are discussed. The conclusions on the relation of the spectral characteristics to the nature of exciton-type states formed in these systems are reported.
