Abstract
The paper evaluates the economic merit and quality of the West Amur Region brown coal in terms of grade 1B coal that aggregates two thirds of the regional coal reserves. However, this grade coal is high-ashy, high-moisture and has low calorific capacity, and is therefore not used. The authors suggest innovative solutions for this grade coal conversion, including field curing, briquetting and high-speed thermochemical pyrolysis.
