An attempt to analyze phytoplankton dynamics using statistical tests

Abstract

The dynamics of the phytoplankton composition in the Priplotinnyi stretch of the Kuibyshev Water Reservoir is assessed based on the results of censuses with frequent sampling performed in 1989–1991. Cluster analysis is used to identify species agglomerations that formed during these three years. Eight agglomerations of phytoplankton species differing in the degree of repeated formation are recognized. Species faithful to each agglomeration are identified using the phi coefficient.
