Abstract

Heating sodium 3-thiophenemalonic acid-noble metal salt aqueous solution at 100°C, without the extra step of introducing other reducing agents and protective agents, results in the formation of well-stable noble metal that includes Au, Ag, Pt, or Pd nanoparticles. As-formed colloidal solutions were characterized by UV-vis absorption spectra and transmission electron microscopy and the nanoparticle formation process was also traced by time-dependent UV-vis absorption spectra.
