Abstract
An analysis of the pattern of rail deformation under a passing train using a rapid-response strain-gauge system is described. Digital signal processing algorithms are created, which involve filtration and regression analysis for minimizing the effects of continuous noise and an uninformative low-frequency component on the reliability of identifying the wheel pair and the assessment of forces in the wheel-and-rail system. A method for assessing the force impact of rolling surface defects on the dynamics of the interaction of rails with wheels is tested.
