Abstract

The problem of calculating the shortest distances between arbitrary points on the surfaces of tanks with cylindrical shells and bottoms in the form of an oblate ellipsoid of revolution has been solved with the use of Jacobi elliptical integrals. This problem is of great importance for acoustic-emission inspection.
