Abstract

The results of the development of a nonlinear acoustic technique for the detection of cracks in various objects and structures are presented. A version for implementing this technique is considered in which output signals of an ultrasonic locator are recorded and processed with a high-speed ADC board and a computer. The features of the detection of the flaw type during location of two isolated flaws (a cavity and a crack) positioned one in front of the other on the path of location are established. The results of 2D scanning of compressed and open cracks in model objects (two plates) and stress-induced corrosive cracks in a fragment of a pipeline are presented.
