Abstract
An algorithm for the segmentation of convex cells with partially undefined boundaries is considered. This algorithm is based on application of the marker-based watershed transform to a combination of the initial gray-scale image and the result of a morphological operation called the geodesic distance applied to the binarized image. The proposed approach is used for automated analysis of samples of some industrial materials.
