Abstract

A new physical effect lying in the harmonic generation by a focused high-intensity (I ∼ 1027 W/cm2) laser beam in a vacuum is predicted. The probability for the third-harmonic generation is calculated for a specific model of a monochromatic laser beam (symmetric beam) with the optical frequency.
