Abstract

Waves in a stratified liquid excited in a trapezoidal basin are considered. The wave energy propagates in straight lines with rays forming a fixed angle with the vertical θ. Based on the ray model, the coordinates of the wave attractor are found analytically, which is focused in the process of reflections from the walls of the pool. The results are compared with a laboratory experiment. The convergence of the rays to the attractor is investigated. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the attractor with one reflection from each side are given analytically.
