Abstract

Based on published results of numerical simulation and processing of actual satellite data, we explored the possibility for retrieving the aerosol optical depth from IR measurements in the spectral channels lying in the 3.5–4 and 8–13 μm ranges. This approach is tested for the Tomsk region using data from the EOS/MODIS satellite system as an example.
