Abstract

The electroreduction of cerium ions in a KCl-NaCl-CsCl eutectic melt at 823 K was studied. The electroisolation of metallic cerium from halide complexes was conducted at potentials higher than the potentials of the decomposition of alkali halide melts and shown to be the primary electrochemical process. The mechanism of the electrode process was determined.
