Abstract
An analysis of the changes in the mental and physiological state of the population of Russia beginning from 1993 was performed in terms of systemic adaptation. The indicators of the mental state were the results of sociological polls on the health and mood of people. The indicators of the physiological state were the data of state statistics on morbidity separately for stress diseases and diseases of other etiologies. The main result was the finding of discrepancies between the changes in the mental and physiological states. The mental state improves, and the physiological state deteriorates. On the whole, the data obtained confirm the adaptation theory postulate on the possibility of uncorrelated adaptations of mentality and physiological systems.
