Abstract

The results obtained from development and substantiation of projects for constructing small hydro power stations in Buryatia are described, and the technical-and economic indicators of these projects are presented. A new approach for estimating the hydro power resources of the region is proposed. The possibility of achieving more efficient use of the hydraulic energy produced by small hydro power stations in the periods of low electric load is considered through converting the excess electric energy into useful low-grade heat for supplying hot water to independent consumers and for heating them.
