Abstract
The hydrodynamic features of valve homogenizers for the mechanical treatment of emulsions (breakup of dispersion medium) are considered. Distributions of the hydro- and thermodynamic characteristics of flow are derived based on the hypothesis of the discreteness of the liquid phase. The existence of ultralow-pressure zones in the cavitation regions is theoretically proven. The thermodynamic characteristics of emulsion drops in an ultralow-pressure zone are tentatively calculated.
