Abstract
The kinetics of the oxidation of Pb-Sr(Ba) alloys containing up to 1.0 wt % of the alloying component in the liquid state is studied by means of thermogravimetry. The oxidation of the alloys obeys a hyperbolic law. Strontium and barium additives accelerate the oxidation of lead. At 673 K, the true oxidation rate changes from 1.01 × 10-3 kg/(m2 s) for pure lead to 1.31 × 10-3 kg/(m2 s) for alloys with 1.0 wt % of strontium, and the apparent activation energy of alloy oxidation falls from 251.7 kJ/mol for pure lead to 60.2 and 142.9 kJ/mol for alloys with 1.0 wt % of strontium and barium, respectively.
