Abstract
The standard enthalpies of formation of liquid and gaseous octachlorotrisilane were estimated, Δf H o (298.15, Si3Cl8, g) = −1397(9) kJ/mol and Δf H o (298.15, Si3Cl8, l) = −1447(9) kJ/mol. The decomposition of Si3Cl8 over the temperature range 400–1000 K was studied theoretically.
