Abstract
Phase equilibria in MF2-YbF3-ScF3 (M = Cd, Mg) systems were studied by differential thermal analysis. The systems are of eutectic type without intermediate phases. CdF2-, α-YbF3-, and β-YbF3-based solid solutions only exist. The low-temperature stability boundary of α-YbF3-based solid solution is 833 ± 5°C in the cadmium-containing system and 852°C in the magnesium-containing system.
