Platinum(II) extraction by N,N′-dipentylethylenediamine-N′-thiocarbaldehyde from hydrochloric acid solutions

Abstract

Platinum(II) extraction by N,N′-dipentylethylenediamine-N′-thiocarbaldehyde from 0.1 M HCl into chloroform and toluene diluents was studied at 25°C and a phase contact time of 5 min. The extraction had a coordination mechanism with a Pt ← S bond formed in the extracted complex PtCl2S2. Concentration constants and thermodynamic parameters of the extraction reaction were calculated.
